About EarthLoo
Earthloo is based in Forres, in the North of Scotland.
As a traditional woodworker with a curiosity for permaculture I was interested in closing the loop between what we consume and what we grow - that is, by using our own human waste - in as natural and simple a way possible.
I wanted something convenient, portable and as natural as possible. It had to be very simple to operate - no chemicals or power input - and economical.
Taking inspiration from the thriving eco culture in this area and in particular Ludwig Appeltans, permaculture teacher at Earth-Ways , I started making EarthLoos.
I realised EarthLoo wasn’t the whole answer so I also began to supply and assemble Compost Systems for customers to process their own compost, again based on the motto of Natural, Simple, Effective, using chemical-free local Larch.
From there we have expanded into developing larger, freestanding Earthloos that can cater for larger numbers but still be completely off-grid - no connections required.
And the compost is great.
